Important for anyone with WooCommerce on their website.
WooCommerce’s new big update to 4.0 is scheduled for early March. This is a big update, which is also a so called breaking update. Upgrade will be required for all WooCommerce web stores running WordPress 5.3+
This means that the operation of the e-commerce website may break during the upgrade.
Upgrading brings a lot of good but, as always with big updates, it has the potential to break some functionality on your site.
What do you have to do?
If you are a maintenance and development client, the update will not be automatically installed on your pages, but will be done in a controlled way after publishing and testing the functionality of the pages. The estimated WooCommerce update is coming to our stores at the end of March.
If you want to be sure that the store is working well in advance, we can install a pre-release 4.0 update to your store immediately upon request. This also gives you time to explore the new look and features.
If you manage your pages yourself, you should be prepared for the upgrade according to the official developer documentation. Be prepared for backup and test your trading.
You should pay particular attention to changes made to many PHP files caused by the update.
What does the update include?
- improved reports
- improved shop notifications
- new management tools
- improved order editing
- Brexit and VAT changes
- email improvements
- other minor fixes and changes
